Travertine Maintenance Services in Pittsburgh | MARBLELIFE
Keep travertine clean, protected, and looking its best across Pittsburgh
Travertine is a classic stone, but it needs ongoing care to stay bright, even in color, and beautiful. Because it is naturally porous, it can take on moisture, oils, and grime that gradually dull the surface and make routine cleaning feel like a losing battle. In Pittsburgh, entryway grit, seasonal slush, hard water minerals, and frequent use in kitchens and bathrooms can speed up wear if the stone is not maintained with the right products and process. MARBLELIFE® Pittsburgh offers travertine maintenance programs that preserve the look of your stone through scheduled professional cleaning, protective sealing, light refinishing, and small repairs when needed, all performed with stone appropriate, non acidic methods.
Each service visit begins with an on site review of traffic patterns, current finish condition, and any problem areas such as dull lanes, minor staining, or open pits. From there, we perform the maintenance steps your surfaces need, which may include deep cleaning, targeted spot work, gentle mechanical scrubbing, reapplying sealer where appropriate, and touching up small voids to keep the surface more uniform. We also provide straightforward guidance on travertine friendly cleaners and daily care habits so your floors, showers, and counters stay easier to maintain between visits. With a customized plan from MARBLELIFE of Pittsburgh, travertine can remain a consistent, polished feature of your home or facility year after year.

Frequently Asked Questions
Travertine maintenance is a planned service that includes cleaning, protecting, and caring for your stone so it continues to look attractive and perform well. Because travertine is naturally porous and can open new voids over time, regular maintenance helps prevent soil buildup, staining, and dullness while extending the life of your surfaces.
A typical maintenance visit may include inspection, professional cleaning, gentle machine agitation or hand scrubbing, spot treatments for stains or discoloration, polishing where appropriate, and application of a penetrating sealer, along with care recommendations tailored to your travertine.
Most homes benefit from professional maintenance once every twelve to twenty four months, depending on foot traffic, the presence of pets or children, and how consistently stone safe cleaners are used. Busy commercial spaces or heavily used kitchen and entry areas may need more frequent service to keep surfaces looking their best.
MARBLELIFE maintains travertine floors, showers, countertops, backsplashes, lobbies, and other interior and exterior surfaces found in both residential and commercial properties, including hotels, offices, restaurants, and medical facilities.
Yes. When appropriate, MARBLELIFE applies professional grade penetrating sealers during maintenance to help reduce staining from spills and daily use. Sealers work together with proper cleaning habits to support better resistance to common household and commercial contaminants.
Maintenance services can often lessen the appearance of light scratches, etching, and general dullness through careful cleaning, polishing, and spot treatments. Deep damage or heavy wear may require a separate restoration service, and your technician will explain the best option after inspecting the stone.
Timing depends on the size and condition of the area, but many residential projects are completed within a few hours, while larger homes or commercial properties can take most of the day. Your MARBLELIFE team will provide a time estimate once they understand the scope of work.
MARBLELIFE uses modern equipment, professional containment practices, and wet processes to minimize dust and keep your home or business as clean as possible while work is performed. Technicians protect adjacent surfaces and clean up thoroughly before the project is considered complete.
Between visits, use MARBLELIFE recommended stone safe cleaners that are free from acids, harsh solvents, and waxes. Avoid generic household products that can etch, dull, or leave residue on natural stone, and follow the routine care guidance provided by your technician after your service.
You can request an estimate by calling the MARBLELIFE® Pittsburgh office, submitting a request through the local website, or using the request estimate button on the national MARBLELIFE site. A team member will review your needs, answer questions, and schedule a convenient time to evaluate your travertine surfaces in person.
Posted on Ludwig ReimmerTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. I hired MARBLELIFE Pittsburgh for a quartz kitchen sink recut and was extremely pleased. Bob did exceptional work, surpassing what my wife and I expected. Communication was timely, and the quoted price matched the final cost. Highly recommend their reliable, professional service—definitely a 5+ star experience!Posted on wade saucierTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Pittsburgh Marblelife team was excellent. Restored an old 84 year old stone floor that had some water damage to the stones. Very happy with the results. At first we were going to place a wall to wall rug in the room. But after the restoration we decided to keep the floor exposed due to the fine restoration work. Thank you!Posted on Kalena ThomhaveTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. I had a great experience with MARBLELIFE and Bob, and wholeheartedly recommend them. Bob and his team cleaned, honed, and sealed my kitchen countertops, and they look so beautiful. I’m not usually a review writer, but I have also never experienced being in love with kitchen counters. My partner and I are doing a low-cost “remodel” of our kitchen—you know, new paint job, new lighting fixtures, and other changes that don’t mean gutting and renovating and tens of thousands of dollars. Our granite countertops were perfectly useable, but I didn’t really like them. However, I knew replacing them would not only be wasteful, but also super expensive. I did some research, and I thought that getting them honed to a matte finish would make them fit the style of the kitchen better. Before I talked to Bob at MARBLELIFE, I talked to a couple other fabricators who weren’t interested in tackling our counters. And I think I get why—it would not only be a hard project, but matte counters are more finicky, so customers might not be pleased with the additional care needed. But Bob was totally open to honing our countertops! He was very communicative—we talked mostly by text, which is nice for millennials and also because I could easily pull up our conversation if I forgot details of something he said, and we also connected over the phone. Pricing was clear and reasonable with no surprises. Bob and his team completed the job quickly and even left us some sealant for the next time the counters need it. AND THEY LOOK SO GOOD! This review is getting too long, but let me just say if you’re thinking about a matte finish: the colors of the stone are so much richer and it’s also so clear the counters are made of NATURAL STONE. Yes we need to be better about taking care of it, but I don’t mind. If I knew more about granite and stone I know I could say more about how professional Bob was, but I can say that it is clear he’s both an expert and a good and reliable businessperson. If and when we have any other issues with stone or tile, I know who we will be calling!Posted on Marianne DeanTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Kristen and Bob were very responsive, timely and professional. They repaired a large scratch in my corian countertop, replaced the caulking and repaired a chip in my ceramic tile floor. Their work was incredible. The Corian and the ceramic tile look like the day I bought them. I highly recommend Marblelife!Posted on Rocky MedureTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Bob and his team restored our slate floor and did an absolutely amazing job. Their care and effort shine through. Huge thanks to them for excellent customer service and thoughtfulness.Posted on Jane PTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Superb workmanship and excellent service! We have a 20-yr old travertine bathroom and shower that had never been professionally cleaned before. Bob and his team were able to clean/sand away etching and stains from the counter and shower entry and deep clean the shower, removing soap scum and mildew. It looks as good as it did 20 years ago! Bob also cleaned and sealed our granite kitchen counter. We had a sink that was installed without proper supports and we have dealt with leaks along the rim for years. Because Bob has experience with stone installation, he was able to reinstall the sink with proper supports - it has never been more secure. Throughout the process, Bob consults you to make sure you are happy with what they are doing and will adjust as needed. We couldn't be happier with the service and will use Bob on a regular basis for deep cleaning and resealing.Posted on Jim HarpsterTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Our countertop was damaged by the stove installers. Bob and his wife came to the rescue and made our countertop look like it as brand new! He was fast, clean and efficient!Posted on innocentrage1Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. I had a stress fracture crack in my quartz countertop and Bob came out and looked at it and told me because it was quartz, a man made stone, he could glue it back together but it was highly possible that in a year or two it may crack again and suggested a new countertop may be the better option. Bob has many years experience in this business and had a list of contacts he provided me. I contacted one of those contacts and got a beautiful new countertop that was way better than the crafmanship of my old countertops done by a chain retail store. Even though Bob did not get my business this time I will be using him in the future for any services with my new countertops. I admire him for helping me and making suggestions even though it didn't make him a profit. A lot of companies would of just taken my money with a quick glue fix and I would have run into the same problem later down the road.Posted on John BaronTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Bob and his team were fantastic. They went out of their way to get me out of a situation concerning a marble mosaic floor and exceeded all my expectations. Can’t thank them enough.Posted on Rob RikerTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. These guys really over-delivered! We understood that the 136 yrs of baked-on soot were likely to be impossible to clean completely, and confirmed with several quotes. But they gave it a ton of time and attention and got it much further than we dared hope. A good bit of structural repair and an exceptional attention to detail rounded out a great project. They were reliable schedulers and good communicators, both rare to find in in-home contractors. Looking forward to having them back to help with more fireplaces. One warning: for work like this with structural repair it would be good to schedule when windows can be open, as their epoxy has a powerful odor! Was eager to leave this review & share our enthusiasm.Load more
